Features: The "Test Time for Postgraduate Entrance Exam English" series is co-authored by authoritative experts in the field, with contributions from renowned English tutoring instructors who have accumulated years of teaching experience. The manuscripts are meticulously reviewed by test experts and meticulously proofread word by word to explore testing patterns and help ambitious candidates achieve significant and rapid progress. Since 2002, the postgraduate entrance exam English test has included a listening component, which accounts for 20% of the total score starting from 2003 and is expected to have an even higher proportion in future exams. This adjustment in test structure reflects society's increasing demand for English listening and speaking skills among graduate students. It presents a new challenge for all candidates to prepare for listening in addition to traditional test sections such as reading, translation, comprehensive English knowledge application, and English writing. Since listening is relatively weak for most candidates and difficult to improve significantly in a short period, early preparation is essential. To help candidates understand the new syllabus requirements for listening and prepare targeted study plans, we have compiled this postgraduate entrance exam tutoring series, "Test Time for Postgraduate Entrance Exam English." This book consists of the following four parts:
1. Analysis of Listening Question Types and Test Strategies
This section analyzes the characteristics of the listening component in the postgraduate entrance exam English test, providing test-taking guidance for different question types and requirements. It offers detailed explanations, summaries, and insights into the basic patterns of new question types, enabling candidates to quickly familiarize themselves with and master their solution techniques, thereby achieving twice the result with half the effort during their study process.
2. Specialized Training for Listening Question Types
The materials in this book are selected according to the requirements of the test syllabus, ensuring a rich variety of themes and genres. The exercises include everyday notifications, speeches, general conversations or discussions, radio and television programs, weather forecasts, as well as lectures, speeches, and discussions in specific fields. Through these exercises, candidates can understand various themes and genre formats, master vocabulary and sentence structures related to specific content. The high-density and intensive training volume is another key feature of this book. To improve listening skills, candidates must engage in intensive practice. This book begins with itemized training and gradually transitions to simulated test paper practice, offering nearly five hundred practice questions. The itemized training section strengthens practice for both Part A and Part B dictation question types, along with additional numerical exercises. We believe that through systematic training, candidates can gradually achieve proficiency, tackle each question type effectively, and comprehensively improve their skills.
3. Full-Scale Simulated Test Paper Training
The five simulated test papers provided at the end of this book are designed and compiled strictly according to test requirements, allowing candidates to experience on-the-spot test conditions through simulated practice. This helps them comprehensively assess their study progress, summarize experiences and lessons, and further enhance their listening and test-taking skills.
4. Recording Scripts and Answers
The recordings for the were produced by native English-speaking experts. The audio is clear and pronunciation strictly follows the test syllabus requirements, with recording standards set by sample questions. Both British and American accents are included. To help candidates save costs and reduce study expenses, recordings that require playback twice are recorded only once, with pauses shortened. Candidates can adjust playback according to the requirements of each question during use. The appendix of this book includes the listening test papers and reference answers for the postgraduate entrance exam English tests of 2003 and 2004.
