Features: Based on the background of the "dual transformation" of China's economic system and social structure, this book conducts an in-depth and systematic study of the sudden emergence of urban poverty from multiple perspectives such as economics, society, humanities, and history. It provides a more thorough and comprehensive investigation and analysis of urban poverty issues, primarily focusing on basic concepts, poverty measurement, causes of poverty, anti-poverty strategies, goals and trends, and international comparisons. The book aims to construct a strategic system for urban anti-poverty that aligns with China's characteristics through a combination of theory and practice, hoping to help alleviate the spread of urban poverty at present. This will allow for balanced consideration and coordination of various interests while continuing to promote deep reforms, and to genuinely safeguard the interests of impoverished groups. The book is divided into 7 chapters, with the main content and viewpoints as follows:
Chapter 1, as the introduction to the entire book, explicitly proposes that the theoretical thread running through the study of urban poverty and anti-poverty is the spirit of humanistic care. This highlights the research theme and significance of the book and infuses the soul and essence into the theoretical research and empirical analysis of subsequent chapters.
Chapter 2 describes the existing conditions of urban poverty during China's transition period from a realistic and objective perspective.
Chapter 3, based on the background of China's dual economic and social transformation, comprehensively explores the causal mechanisms behind the increasingly evident urban poverty in China since the 1990s.
Chapter 4 outlines the guiding ideology and strategic framework for China's urban anti-poverty strategy during the transition period.
Chapter 5 explores the selection of economic strategic types in China's urban anti-poverty strategy during the transition period. These include strategies such as strengthening macro-control, coordinating regional economic development, deepening the reform of state-owned enterprises, rationalizing income distribution, and fully expanding employment, all working together to promote urban anti-poverty.
Chapter 6 continues to explore the selection of comprehensive strategic types in China's urban anti-poverty strategy during the transition period.
Chapter 7 examines international urban anti-poverty experiences and insights.
