Features: The book's significant contribution lies in its analysis of China's economic reforms, drawing perspectives from both domestic and international sources, as well as including views from government officials on certain issues. The discussions on financial reform, China's growing foreign trade and investment, and their impact on Asia are particularly well-received. — Nicholas R. Lardy, Senior Fellow at the Brookings Institution, U.S. The rise of China is reshaping a new Asia, and its contours are not easily predictable. This book avoids exaggeration and presents a cautious, forward-looking perspective on the challenges China faces in adapting to WTO entry and financial system reform, while also highlighting the opportunities brought by the new mutually beneficial labor division in Asia. — Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Minister of Education, Singapore The author presents several possible scenarios for China's future development. We can imagine many scenarios, but the actual outcome may depend on the support of China's leaders and its people. — Kim Hak-Su, Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations, Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific This book is truly exceptional and may serve as a reference for future generations. The carefully selected authors have conducted serious analyses from different perspectives—academic, governmental, and business—making the overall analysis very balanced. I would highly recommend it to students and professionals who wish to understand contemporary China's transformation. — Jean-Christophe Iseux, Professor at Oxford University and Peking University, Special Consultant to the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference Based on a comprehensive collection of expert opinions, regional analyses, and specific business evaluations, China Enters a New Era of Transformation serves as the second volume in the World Economic Forum's Asia series, setting a milestone in synthesizing analyses and summarizing the factors reshaping China in the new century.
