Features: Cultural criticism in China has long been plagued by avoiding the truth, maintaining ambiguity, and speaking incoherently, making clear into confusion. If you read these articles, can you not feel frustrated for them? So now you see—these poets have taken up criticism as a side gig, and the more they do it, the more they enjoy it. But if you really ask us, are poets naturally fond of rambling? Our answer is no. For us, there are many things that could be left unsaid, many issues that could be left unraised. We could simply sit on the curb, waiting for the righteous to take the lead, and then we could offer comfort and support, demonstrating our conscience while avoiding many negative influences in life. How wonderful that would be! Unfortunately, in our time, there are very few cultural righteous individuals. It’s already rare to find someone who speaks the truth for personal gain. We are easily angered, and when words build up, they must be expressed. So, we have no choice but to take the helm and gear up for battle.
