" Economics Exercise Book (Second Edition) "

Author: Joseph Stiglitz
Publisher:
Publication Date: 2005-03-01
Features: In the new exercise set, I have made extensive revisions to the content. Most of the exercises from the first edition's exercise set have been further improved, while some have been removed and replaced with a considerable number of newly written exercises. During the revision process, I referred to Victoria L. Craig and William E. Bobish's co-authored work, "Improving Multiple-Choice Questions" (IDEAPaper No. 16, Center for Faculty Evaluation and Development, Division of Continuing Education, Kansas State University, September 1986). This paper not only discusses the advantages and disadvantages of multiple-choice questions but also provides many excellent suggestions on how to write such exercises. This exercise set also includes all the multiple-choice questions from the "Study Guide" by Lawrence W. Martin, which accompanies Stiglitz's "Economics" (2nd Edition), "Principles of Microeconomics" (2nd Edition), and "Principles of Macroeconomics" (2nd Edition), as the last 20 exercises for relevant chapters. For this part of the exercises, teachers should note: first, I have not marked the difficulty coefficients of these exercises; second, the reference page numbers for these exercises are all SG, and finally, these exercises are marked with the titles of the relevant chapters from the "Study Guide," not the header content. I believe teachers will find these exercises from the "Study Guide" to be a valuable supplement to this exercise set. Especially for teachers who assign homework using the "Study Guide," this allows them to select some exercises that have appeared in homework when creating exams, whether using them directly or slightly modified. This type of modification can be achieved using a computer-based exercise set, which is available for both personal computers and Macs and is user-friendly. The entire software package includes the exercise set, Norton Test-Maker, and ClassProfile, and is provided free of charge to teachers who adopt Stiglitz's "Economics" (2nd Edition). Teachers can use Norton Test-Maker to select exercises, edit them, or create new ones, and use ClassProfile to record students' grades. The publisher and I welcome your feedback on this exercise set and suggestions for adding new exercises or revising existing ones.
