Features: Currently, contemporary Chinese academia is transitioning from absorbing and integrating Western academic thought and Chinese classical traditions to a creative period. This quality is particularly prominent in the broad field of arts. To advance the academic study of contemporary art, with the full support of Guizhou People's Publishing House, we have decided to publish the "Humanities and Arts Series." This series emphasizes the humanistic depth of art research and its historical breadth. It advocates for rigorous academic reflection on the individual and collective phenomena of contemporary Chinese art, guided by humanistic value concerns, clarifying the vast cultural context in which art exists, and fostering intellectual and spiritual exchanges between academia and the art world. The "Humanities and Arts" series features five columns: "Art Research," "Artistic Journey," "Cultural Critique," "Metaphysical Discourse," and "Classical Chinese Translation." "Art Research" focuses on publishing pure academic essays that explore the humanistic nature of art with the reference of contemporary humanities. "Artistic Journey" publishes the works, notes, and musings of individual artists, reflecting their inner humanistic spirit. "Cultural Critique" roots the exploration of the humanistic nature of art in the cultural traditions of ancient and modern China and beyond, offering in-depth, non-ideological, and emotion-free critiques of cultural trends, classics, and cultural figures. "Metaphysical Discourse" elucidates the necessity, possibility, and methods of metaphysics as the foundation of contemporary humanities, further injecting a rigorous testing dimension into Chinese academia. "Classical Chinese Translation" selects and publishes classic works on art and its humanistic disciplines from outside the Chinese academic sphere, broadening the perspective of Chinese humanistic thought. The series is jointly edited by humanities scholars and artists in the Chinese academic field, with the participation of senior scholars and critics from around the world. We hope that the publication of this series will promote the formation of both the individual and humanistic dimensions of contemporary Chinese art.
