A monumental work: over 6 million words, more than 500 photographs, in 16th-century format with 5 volumes, the result of collaborative effort by nearly 100 experts and scholars from institutions such as the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Beijing Normal University, Peking University, Beijing Municipal Party School, and Renmin University of China, completed over three years.
