Series Continuation of Base - Part 1: The Edge of Base

Author: Isaac Asimov (USA) / Ye Lihua
Publisher:
Publish Date: 2005-03-01
Features: Traditionally, the past is history, and yesterday is history. But Isaac Asimov was different. His Foundation series wrote about "the history of the future," "the history of a distant future," and "the history of tomorrow!" Asimov, this "historian of the future," this "American Sima Qian," used an "epic" brushstroke and the grand chapters of the Foundation series to narrate the dramatic and stories of the "Galactic Empire," the "Foundation" (often simply called "Foundation"), the Second Foundation, and the "Mule," offering the "history of the future" to readers in a vivid and engaging manner. Asimov's science fiction always introduced novel and fantastical elements, becoming a model for later science fiction works. The reason a master is a master lies in their ability to transform the ordinary into the extraordinary with a single stroke. His three major series—the Robot, Empire, and Foundation—each have their own unique charm. Even now that we are very familiar with his works, we still cannot help but admire his creativity at the time. Back then, the psychologist historian Hari Seldon established the Foundation and predicted that humanity could rebuild the Galactic Empire in a thousand years. Now, 498 years have passed, and it seems that Seldon's plan has been executed perfectly. "Perfect, is it possible?" Gran Torvin, a member of the Foundation, expresses doubt. First, Seldon never predicted that the Mule would cause great disaster. Additionally, strange forces continue to control people's minds. Torvin tries to warn everyone about the crisis, but instead faces exile. He then embarks on a strange galactic journey of investigation. Meanwhile, Stoch, a member of the Second Foundation, also suspects that powerful manipulative forces lurk in interstellar space. He therefore sets sail for space, following Torvin's trail of investigation. Torvin finally discovers a planet with unimaginable powers. It seems that the course of history has already surpassed the blueprint of Seldon's plan. Now, only he can decide whether to save the plan or let it crumble to dust.
