Features: Since the Tianbao era of the Tang Dynasty, the regional military commands (fangzhen) began to flourish, with their authority and responsibilities continuing to be inherited in the Eastern Jin region. The designation of regional military commanders was later changed to that of chief commanders. Observation and administration were originally intended for the inspection and collection of information, but after the Dezhen era, the river-opening routes were mostly led by regional military commanders who also held the position of observers. In remote and isolated areas, the position of observers was used to oversee the militia. The Yungang commands were also known as the military frontier commands. To put it bluntly, they were all regional military commands.
