Features: The classical Chinese poetry of China is as brilliant as stars and inexhaustible in beauty, always cherished by people. However, classical poetry is often concise in wording yet rich in meaning, and heavily uses allusions, making it somewhat difficult for young readers to understand and sparking little interest in them. To help students truly comprehend classical poetry, appreciate it, and develop their appreciation skills, as well as apply it in writing, we have specially compiled a student edition of Three Hundred Poems of the Tang and Song Dynasties. We have selected the most representative works of the most renowned poets from the Tang and Song periods, fully considering students' learning needs. The book features enhanced annotations and comments on the poems, along with a more aesthetically pleasing and approachable design. Specifically, it has the following characteristics:
First, it includes bilingual color illustrations, making the format more lively and novel. Based on the artistic conception of each poem, we have paired it with exquisite traditional Chinese paintings and used a bilingual printing method. The combination of poetic emotion and artistic imagery complements each other, helping readers immerse themselves in the poem's atmosphere and gain a deeper understanding. This format also appears more approachable and is more easily accepted by young readers.
Second, it provides full annotations to eliminate reading barriers. Classical poetry uses words with extreme precision and is rich in allusions, requiring readers to have a solid background in literature and history. We have annotated all difficult words and allusions, removing reading barriers. Additionally, we have provided comprehensive annotations for each poem. These annotations avoid literal translations and instead aim for smooth and elegant language while covering all key points of the original text. Reading the annotations themselves can also be a delightful experience.
Third, the comments are concise and help deepen understanding. For each poem, the focus of the comments varies: some highlight the author's exceptional writing techniques, others help readers appreciate the poem's artistic conception, and others point out the background of the poem to help readers understand the author's emotions. The comments are succinct and easy to understand, making them accessible to young readers.
Fourth, famous lines are highlighted for easy memorization. For widely quoted famous lines in the poems, we have marked them with prominent color strips for easy identification and memorization. If readers focus on mastering these lines, they can significantly enhance their literary skills and improve their language and writing abilities—truly achieving twice the result with half the effort.
This book is an ideal extracurricular reading material for primary, secondary, and university students, as well as a valuable resource for lovers of classical poetry. It helps them absorb rich knowledge, improve their appreciation of literature, and cultivate their character.
