It primarily describes the history of the United States revealed through a tree ring, while deeply expressing his personal expertise in ecological knowledge and humanistic care. Reading his newly translated A Sand County Almanac carefully, a sense of emotion naturally arises in the heart! This emotion comes not only from Aldo Leopold's philosophy and vivid translation but also from the development of China's ecological and environmental protection movement.
Aldo Leopold was born in Iowa, USA, in 1887. After graduating from Yale University, he soon joined the U.S. Forest Service as an assistant forester in New Mexico and Arizona, dedicating himself to nature conservation and becoming a pioneer of the American conservation movement. In 1943, less than a month after completing the manuscript of A Sand County Almanac, Leopold tragically lost his life while assisting in extinguishing a fire on a neighbor's farm. This book became his final declaration on nature conservation. It covers knowledge from ecology, philosophy, literature, history, and more, blending seriousness and depth with freshness and fluency. It is both beautiful writing and a classic, an immortal masterpiece worth readers' repeated reading. It was ranked by the New York Public Library as one of the "Top 10 Nature Writing Books of the 20th Century."
