Features: Ye Dejun (1911—1956), a historian and theorist of traditional Chinese opera. Born in Huai'an, Jiangsu, he graduated from the Chinese Department of Fudan University. He served as a teacher at Huzhou Middle School, a professor at Hunan University, and a professor at Yunnan University. He authored works such as Collected Essays on Chinese Opera and Song, Yuan, and Ming Narrative Literature. His posthumous works were edited by Zhao Jingshen and Li Ping, and together with the two previously published books, they were compiled into Studies on Chinese Opera and Fiction. This book is divided into three volumes: the first volume covers opera theory, the second volume covers fiction theory, and the third volume includes other essays on folk literature.
