Tanchun and Baochai implemented many policies to benefit the garden, and everyone felt ambitious. It was then discovered that Tanchun's cleverness surpassed Fengjie's, and everyone praised her talent.
The Jia family has a long-standing connection in Jiangnan—the Zhen family. Because they were ordered to come to the capital, they sent someone to pay a visit to Jia Mu, mentioning the story of Zhen Baoyu, which deeply interested both Jia Mu and Baoyu.
Baoyu returned to Yihongyuan and, in a daze, fell into a dream, ending up in a garden identical to the Grand View Garden, where he encountered many strange events. Ziyuan, deeply understanding Daiyu's feelings, deliberately fabricated lies to test Baoyu. But Baoyu took it seriously, fell ill, and became unconscious!
Jia Mu, Daiyu, and everyone else were extremely anxious. "The bell must be untangled by the one who tied it," Baoyu gradually recovered under Ziyuan's comfort. Baoyu then privately confessed his true feelings for Daiyu to Ziyuan. Ziyuan secretly relayed Baoyu's feelings to Daiyu and advised her to make plans early, fearing that time would run out. But Daiyu had her own sorrows and could not speak.
Because of the passing of the Grand Empress Dowager, music could not be played during the national mourning period. The Jia family dismissed the female actors from Lixiangyuan, and those who refused were assigned to various households. However, this led to endless disputes and turmoil, stirring up ripples in the originally peaceful and tranquil Grand View Garden.
