Hans Christian Andersen (1805-1875) was a world-famous fairy tale writer, born into a cobbler family in the Danish town of Odense. From a young age, he had a deep love for literature and wrote a total of 168 fairy tales in his lifetime. Among them, classic stories like "The Ugly Duckling," "The Emperor's New Clothes," "The Little Mermaid," and "The Girl Who Sold Fireworks" are widely celebrated. To this day, these works remain an unattainable pinnacle in the creation of literary fairy tales. Andersen's fairy tales are imbued with love and sincerity, filled with beauty and dreams, and brimming with humor and hardship. They span seven continents and four oceans, traverse three centuries of time, and walk hand in hand with children of different skin colors through their innocent childhoods, warming the hearts that have been worn down by time. To honor this outstanding fairy tale master, in 1954, the International Board on Books for Children established the International Hans Christian Andersen Award, named after Andersen, as the highest honor in the world of children's literature.
