Features: Humans have always lived within the projection of history. This projection is neither a gift from God nor a manipulation by any deity, but rather stems from the defining characteristic that distinguishes humans from animals—memory. The projection of history spans far and near, from the distant footprints of primitive ancestors as they moved toward civilization to the events that just occurred yesterday. The relentless flow of time, day and night, not only carries away what has already happened but also ultimately envelops what is happening and what is yet to happen, all merging into the projection of history. The first to recognize the value of this projection was none other than our revered sage, Confucius. His simple yet profound saying, "Reviewing the past to learn the new," though seemingly plain, was like an awakening enlightenment. History is not only the destination of human activities but also the source of wisdom for the future. When it comes to the relationship between history and reality, the British writer Orwell expressed it even more directly. He said: "Whoever controls history controls the present." Wen Gu is a serialized cultural and historical publication. From today's perspective, it reflects on and examines the past, providing a reference for current existence and future development. The essence of "reviewing the past to learn the new." Wen Gu strives to present vivid historical materials, fresh perspectives, and unique insights, covering the following three main aspects:
- A reflection on past human living conditions;
- An examination and reflection on history;
- A revisiting of cultural and historical relics and texts.
