Features: The term "form-body" places "form" first, followed by "body." Without form, how can there be body? Without good form, how can there be a good body? Artists should pay attention to the study of form: natural forms, artificial forms, general forms, and individual forms. Form is half of sketching. If sketching is the foundation of all arts, then form is the foundation of sketching. Here, the term "form" refers to the linear representation mentioned earlier, meaning shape and outline. For objective objects, form and body cannot be separated; they are a complete concept. However, when painting, form and body are different. Form is a two-dimensional shape, while body is three-dimensional. Form can exist without body, but body cannot exist without form; the existence of body depends on form. Therefore, in self-training and teaching, I emphasize the study of form. The term "form-body" likely did not appear very long ago—not more than 500 years. It probably emerged with the invention of geometry.
