Features: "Grub Street" is a premium offering from Oxford University Press for English learners worldwide. In English, "grub" is a rather endearing image. Imagine a grub, utterly immersed in books, tirelessly chewing on letters. Now, this "grub" has crossed the seas and gracefully landed in the hands of Chinese English learners. "Grub Street" will first give you confidence—even if you currently have only a few hundred words, you can easily read world-class works without much effort. The grub will also remind you with its delicate chirping: to persevere in reading, to read widely and richly. When you finish the last book in the series, you might suddenly discover that you have transformed like a caterpillar turning into a butterfly, ready to take flight!
Does a person's portrait reflect more of himself than his face? If the portrait is painted with a brush of love, perhaps it can reveal more than just the person's appearance—it may reveal the person's inner world. We often say that a face is a book that can tell its own story. When Dorian Gray saw his portrait, he fell in love with his own beauty. Nothing could harm his beauty, nothing could hurt or change it—even love, and even time. Therefore, he severed the connection between his face and his inner self, his outward appearance and his inner world. His face remained unchanged, always young and beautiful. But this portrait—painted with a brush of love—was telling the true story. It was the true Dorian Gray—aging and becoming ugly every day, filled with hatred.
