This series is compiled by the Editorial Department of Primary and Secondary School Subject Olympiads and is a research outcome of Beijing Step-by-Step Quality Education Research Institute. Since its publication by the Olympic Press, it has stood out uniquely and is deeply loved by teachers, parents, and students. After significant revisions, re-editions, or rewrites, it has been renamed as "Gold Medal Olympiads" and "Gold Medal Schools" series and is now re-published and distributed by Jinghua Publishing House. On this occasion of the re-publication, sincere gratitude is extended to millions of readers across the country. Primary and Secondary School Subject Olympiads (abbreviated as Subject Olympiads) are the most extensive, widely participated, and influential subject competition activities for primary and secondary school students in China. Subject Olympiads are derived from and extended from the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO), the International Physics Olympiad (IPHO), the International Chemistry Olympiad (ICHO), and other internationally influential middle school subject competitions that attract millions of young students every year. The reason for such widespread attention lies in the strong innovation, flexibility, comprehensiveness of Olympiads, as well as their focus on cultivating students' exploration skills and inspiring their innovative awareness—qualities that are precisely at the core of quality education. This is also the need for future development. Based on years of careful study of this activity both domestically and internationally, as well as a large number of outstanding books in this category, the Editorial Department of Primary and Secondary School Subject Olympiads has invited outstanding educators dedicated to this field from all over the country to compile and publish a series of books on mathematics, Chinese, English, physics, chemistry, biology, and information technology, totaling over 200 varieties. In terms of the variety, quantity, and quality of our Olympiad books, they are considered the most influential among peers both domestically and internationally and hold the greatest charm in the hearts of primary and secondary school teachers and students. The compilation purpose and characteristics of the "Gold Medal Olympiads" and "Gold Medal Schools" series are as follows:
1. High: Derived from textbooks but exceeding them. Derived from textbooks means it is written in accordance with the new [curriculum standards] of the Ministry of Education, while exceeding them means it is closely aligned with the competition syllabi of various levels, ensuring comprehensive alignment in content, question types, and ability requirements. It aims to cultivate interest, develop intelligence, and enhance abilities.
2. Accurate: Scientifically precise and well-structured. Each volume is designed according to the characteristics of the subject, scientifically organized, and follows a step-by-step approach, providing in-depth yet accessible analysis and comprehensive, detailed problem-solving methods.
3. Innovative: The questions are novel, unique, and engaging. They gather the essence of recent Olympiad, middle school, and high school exam questions from both domestically and internationally, representing the highest level of current Olympiads and reflecting the new concepts of curriculum reform, as well as the new ideas, methods, and trends in competition question-setting.
4. Refined: Selected examples are challenging yet not obscure, flexible, and achievable. The focus is on generalization and cross-application; it emphasizes multi-solution, multi-variable, and multi-question approaches to problems, with an emphasis on training thinking skills rather than rote memorization, making learning an interest and hobby.
5. Renowned: A gathering of famous teachers and a collection of famous competitions. The Editorial Department of Primary and Secondary School Subject Olympiads has invited renowned professors from prestigious universities, special-grade teachers, senior teachers, subject leaders, and famous Olympic medal coaches to contribute to the series.
