This series is organized by the Editorial Department of Primary and Secondary School Subject Olympiads and is a research outcome of the Beijing Step-by-Step Quality Education Research Institute. Since its publication by the Olympic Press, it has stood out and is deeply loved by teachers, parents, and students. After significant revisions, re-editions, or rewrites, it has been renamed "Golden Medal Olympiads" and "Golden Medal Schools," and is now re-published and distributed by Jinghua Publishing House. At this re-publication, sincere gratitude is extended to millions of readers across the country. Primary and Secondary School Subject Olympiads (referred to as "Subject Olympiads") are a subject competition activity for primary and secondary school students in China with the widest coverage, the largest number of participants, and the greatest influence. Subject Olympiads are derived from and extended from the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO), the International Physics Olympiad (IPHO), the International Chemistry Olympiad (ICHO), and other internationally influential middle school subject competitions that attract millions of young students every year. The reason for such attention lies in the strong innovation, flexibility, and comprehensiveness of Olympiads, as well as their focus on cultivating students' exploration skills and inspiring their innovative awareness—core elements of quality education. This is also the need for future development. Based on years of in-depth research on this activity and a large number of excellent books in this category, the Editorial Department of Primary and Secondary School Subject Olympiads has invited outstanding educators dedicated to this field from across the country to write and publish a series of books on mathematics, Chinese, English, physics, chemistry, biology, and information technology, totaling over 200 varieties. In terms of the variety, quantity, and quality of our subject Olympiad books, they are considered the most influential among peers both domestically and internationally, and are the most appealing to primary and secondary school teachers and students. The writing purpose and characteristics of the "Golden Medal Olympiads" and "Golden Medal Schools" series are as follows:
1. High: Derived from the curriculum but exceeding it. Derived from the curriculum means it is written in accordance with the new [curriculum standards] of the Ministry of Education, while exceeding it means it is closely aligned with the competition syllabi of various levels, ensuring comprehensive alignment in content, question types, and skill requirements. It aims to cultivate interest, develop intelligence, and enhance abilities.
2. Accurate: Scientifically precise and well-structured. Each book is designed according to the characteristics of the subject, scientifically organized, and follows a step-by-step approach, providing in-depth yet accessible analysis and detailed problem-solving methods.
3. New: The questions are novel, unique, and engaging. They gather the essence of recent Olympiad, middle school, and high school exam questions from both China and abroad, representing the highest level of current Olympiads and reflecting new concepts in curriculum reform and innovative approaches to competition question-setting.
4. Refined: Selected examples are challenging yet not obscure, flexible, and achievable. The focus is on generalizing from specific examples and applying knowledge to different contexts; it emphasizes multi-solution, multi-variable, and multi-question approaches, with an emphasis on training thinking skills rather than rote memorization, making learning an interest and hobby.
