Since its publication by the Olympic Press, it has stood out uniquely and is deeply loved by teachers, parents, and students. After significant revisions, re-editions, or complete rewrites, it has been renamed as "Golden Medal Olympiad" and "Golden Medal School" series and is now re-published and distributed by Jinghua Publishing House. On this occasion of the re-publication, we extend our sincere gratitude to millions of readers across the country.
The Primary and Secondary School Subject Olympiad (briefly referred to as "Subject Olympiad") is a competition activity for primary and secondary school students in China that covers the widest scope, attracts the largest number of participants, and has the greatest influence. Subject Olympiads are derived from and extended from the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO), the International Physics Olympiad (IPHO), the International Chemistry Olympiad (ICHO), and other influential middle school subject competitions worldwide, which are eagerly anticipated and followed by millions of young students every year. The reason for such widespread attention lies in the strong innovation, flexibility, and comprehensiveness of the Olympiads, as well as their focus on cultivating students' exploration skills and inspiring their innovative awareness. These are precisely the core elements of quality education, which are also essential for future development.
Based on years of careful study of this activity both domestically and internationally, as well as a large number of outstanding books in this field, the Editorial Department of Primary and Secondary School Subject Olympiads has invited outstanding educators dedicated to this field from all over the country to compile and publish a series of books on mathematics, Chinese, English, physics, chemistry, biology, and information technology—comprising over 200 varieties. In terms of the variety, quantity, and quality of our Olympiad books, they are considered the most influential among peers both domestically and internationally and hold the greatest charm in the hearts of primary and secondary school teachers and students.
The purpose and characteristics of the "Golden Medal Olympiad" and "Golden Medal School" series are as follows:
1. High: Derived from textbooks but exceeding them. Derived from textbooks means it is written in accordance with the latest [curriculum standards] of the Ministry of Education; exceeding textbooks means it closely aligns with the competition syllabi of various levels, ensuring comprehensive alignment in content, question types, and skill requirements, thereby fostering interest, developing intelligence, and enhancing abilities.
2. Accurate: Scientifically precise and well-structured. Each book is designed according to the characteristics of the subject, scientifically organized, and follows a progressive principle, providing in-depth yet accessible analysis and detailed problem-solving methods.
3. Innovative: The questions are novel, unique, and highly engaging. They gather the essence of recent Olympiad, middle school, and high school exam questions from both China and abroad, representing the highest level of current Olympiad standards and reflecting new concepts in curriculum reform, as well as new ideas, methods, and trends in competition question-setting.
4. Refined: Selected examples are challenging yet logical, flexible, and achievable. The focus is on generalization and applying knowledge to different contexts; it emphasizes multi-solution, multi-variable, and multi-question approaches to problems, with an emphasis on training thinking skills rather than rote memorization, making learning an interest and hobby.
5. Renowned: Gathered by famous teachers and compiled from famous competitions. The Editorial Department of Primary and Secondary School Subject Olympiads has invited renowned professors from prestigious universities, special-grade teachers, senior teachers, subject leaders, and famous Olympic medal coaches to co-author these books.
