Features: This book is well-organized and easy to understand, making it an excellent introduction to the study and reading of Zhu Xi's philosophy. I first conceived the idea of writing "A New Case Study on Zhu Xi" in the summer of 1964. By November 1969, the entire manuscript was completed. Considering its vast scope and substantial length, in the early summer of 1970, I specially wrote an "Outline" summarizing the key points of the book and extending it to the entire history of Chinese academia. From Confucius to the late Qing Dynasty, a span of two thousand five hundred years, the evolution of Confucianism, along with the various schools of thought, are discussed to reveal the significance and value of Zhu Xi's scholarship in carrying forward and inspiring future generations. If you cannot read the full "New Case Study," reading this outline will give you a rough idea of its essence. If you wish to delve deeper into the full book, this outline must serve as your starting point. In 1971, the full "New Case Study" was published, and the outline was subsequently issued separately for the convenience of readers.
