Features: The 10th edition of the "Comprehensive Review Series for Adult College Entrance Examinations" is revised based on the 9th edition, according to the newly promulgated "Comprehensive Review and Examination Syllabus for Adult College Entrance Examinations (Senior High School Entrance to Undergraduate/College)" by the Ministry of Education in 2004. Since its publication in 1986, this series has been well-received by readers and has played a significant role in the preparation of candidates for various adult college entrance examinations. Over the past decade, with the development of adult higher education in China and the changing learning needs of readers, especially the revisions of the "Comprehensive Review and Examination Syllabus for Adult College Entrance Examinations," the series has undergone nine comprehensive revisions. Through continuous refinement, the overall quality of the series has improved, with a more scientific and rational structure, making it a core textbook for adult college entrance examination candidates and enjoying a good reputation nationwide.
The newly revised 10th edition, aligned with the requirements of the updated "Comprehensive Review and Examination Syllabus for Adult College Entrance Examinations (Senior High School Entrance to Undergraduate/College)," features the following characteristics:
1. Closely aligned with the syllabus, rich in content, accurate in description, and highlights key points. It emphasizes the review of basic knowledge and training of abilities, with question types and exercises closely reflecting the actual exam, demonstrating strong practicality and targeting.
2. The selection and arrangement of content are more suitable for adult learning characteristics; it focuses on incorporating new knowledge and achievements, giving the series a stronger sense of timeliness.
3. The design of question types and narrative style, among other aspects, emphasizes the shift from knowledge-based learning to ability-based learning. While emphasizing the training of basic subject skills, it also focuses on improving candidates' comprehensive knowledge application and exam-taking abilities. The system structure, more suitable for adult learning, is further refined.
4. While covering the knowledge points of the new syllabus, the word count is appropriately reduced to make the series more concise and practical.
"English (10th Edition)" is fully revised based on the 9th edition, according to the newly revised "Comprehensive Review and Examination Syllabus for Adult College Entrance Examinations" in 2004. First, we compared the syllabus content and reviewed each knowledge point, either filling gaps or making revisions. Some chapters that went beyond the syllabus (e.g., Section 11.2 "Subjunctive Mood") were retained but accompanied by explanations for reference. Additionally, to help candidates grasp key and difficult points as well as common mistakes, some chapters now include [Key and Difficult Points Highlights]. At the same time, following the principles of conciseness and focus, a significant number of exercises were removed, and some chapter explanations were revised. The two sets of mock tests originally included were also removed, and the original "Exam Ability Training" was replaced with "Targeted Training and Solving Guidance."
The revised "English (10th Edition)" is divided into two parts. The first part remains "Basic Knowledge Review," divided into "Pronunciation," "Grammar," and "Vocabulary," with a spirit of combining in-depth explanations and concise exercises throughout, ensuring students grasp the essentials and practice appropriately, while teachers find it convenient to teach and students find it easy to study. The second part is "Targeted Training and Solving Guidance," which explains the characteristics and solving methods of the six major question types in adult college entrance exam papers, accompanied by examples for analysis. Subsequently, a certain number of exercises for these question types are provided for targeted training to improve students' answering skills. At the end of the book, there are irregular verb tables categorized by rules and alphabetically, daily communication expressions, and the 2004 adult college entrance exam paper.
