Features: The Selected Collection of Vocal Works for higher normal schools is a compilation commissioned by the Ministry of Education. The selection of works in the Selected Collection of Vocal Works is based on the repertoire outlined in the vocal teaching syllabus issued by the Ministry of Education in 1981, supplemented by new pieces with high ideological and artistic value that have been widely adopted by various institutions. The new also includes some simpler songs suitable for secondary schools, allowing students to independently analyze and interpret the performances using the knowledge they have acquired, and can be used for teaching practice when writing lesson plans. The Selected Collection of Vocal Works is divided into six volumes: three volumes of Chinese works and three volumes of foreign works. The main content is as follows:
Chinese Works: Revolutionary songs and lyrical songs since the May Fourth Movement, folk songs; songs created in recent years, arias from operas, etc.
Foreign Works:
Volume 1: Classical art songs, folk songs, modern songs.
Volume 2: Arias from operas.
Volume 3: Art songs, folk songs, and arias from operas in the United States, Britain, and other countries in Asia, Africa, and Latin America.
This textbook was compiled by Southwest Normal University and Shanghai Normal University. During the compilation process, opinions were sought from various sister institutions, and a meeting was held in March 1984 to thoroughly discuss the selected repertoire.
