Features: The 5th edition of the "Pharmacology" textbook for medical colleges across the country was compiled under the guidance of the Organization of Medical Education Textbooks Office of the Ministry of Health and the Review Committee for Clinical Medical Specialty Textbooks. It is a planned textbook designed for use in medical colleges nationwide. During the writing process, the authors adhered to the principles of ideological, scientific, inspirational, advanced, and applicability, while following the fundamental laws and systematic nature of pharmacology. Based on the needs of teaching in medical colleges, the textbook closely connects with clinical practice, simplifies complexity, highlights key points, and facilitates both teaching by instructors and self-study by students.
The 5th edition of the "Pharmacology" textbook is divided into 9 parts and 44 chapters. Building on the original 4th edition, some chapters were removed (e.g., general anesthetics, disinfectants and antiseptics), while others were split (e.g., calcium channel blockers) and reorganized. For teaching convenience, certain drugs were grouped together: cholinesterase reactivators were added after cholinesterase inhibitors, opioid receptor antagonists were included after analgesics, antiguoutic drugs were placed after antipyretic and anti-inflammatory drugs, and β-lactamase inhibitors were added after β-lactam antibiotics. Additionally, the 9th part on rational drug use and related content was added at the end of the book, complementing the general introduction to pharmacology in the first part.
