Features: Compiling the biography of Comrade Zhu De was an important task undertaken by the Central. It was completed after five years of effort, building upon the work of editing and publishing "Selected Works of Zhu De" and "Zhu De's Chronology." Comrade Deng Xiaoping wrote the book title for this volume. The main sources for this book are more than 5,000 documents, telegrams, letters, speech records, and important meeting minutes from the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, the National People's Congress, and from the Workers' and Peasants' Red Army to the People's Liberation Army that Comrade Zhu De attended. Additionally, there are a large number of his work notes. Furthermore, the manuscript of "Zhu De's Autobiography," approximately 80,000 words, recorded by his secretary Sun Ying and others based on his oral account in 1937, was also used. Moreover, we interviewed many people who had direct contact with Comrade Zhu De and extensively consulted various newspapers, memoirs, and other sources. We strive to write a reliable and comprehensive history based on credible handwritten materials.
