Features: The middle school stage is the golden age for students to lay the foundation for their entire lives. Stimulating reading interest, cultivating reading habits, and improving reading skills are not only requirements of Chinese language teaching but also the goals of quality education. In line with this principle, Beijing Langman Teaching and Research Center, based on the suggestions of middle school teachers and students nationwide, organized a group of renowned senior and advanced-level teachers to meticulously compile the "Middle School Modern Chinese Reading Assistance" series. The aim is to help students improve their reading skills, appreciation abilities, and exam-taking capabilities in modern Chinese texts. The "Middle School Modern Chinese Reading Assistance" series has the following features:
1. The selected texts emphasize "exemplary" and "novelty." "Exemplary" refers to texts that are "beautiful in both content and form," the works of renowned authors, and classics, which can inspire readers with aesthetic refinement and enlightenment. "Novelty" refers to selecting "excellent contemporary works," fresh and innovative creations, avoiding clichés and repetitive content, and refreshing readers with a breath of fresh air.
2. The layout. The vast ocean of modern Chinese masterpieces requires the compilers to be discerning, selecting the best from thousands. In addition to ensuring that the texts are of superior ideological and artistic quality, the layout also considers the ideological realities and physical and mental characteristics of middle school students, adhering to the principles of gradual progress and interconnectedness. The design is meticulous, creating a sense of coherence throughout the book.
3. Reading and practice complement each other. The book includes a substantial number of renowned masterpieces. If students read them carefully, they will surely benefit. Further reference to the "Guidance and Appreciation" section, for in-depth and close reading, will bring even greater rewards. If students then engage in "Exploration and Self-Assessment," transforming knowledge into skills, they will benefit lifelong. This book is tailored to the current state of middle school students' modern Chinese reading, drawing on the experience of past middle school entrance exam modern Chinese reading sections, and overcoming the shortcomings of other similar books in terms of guidance and practice. The carefully compiled, guided, and practiced exercises are perfectly integrated, complementing each other.
4. Grasping the trends of the middle school exam. The compilation of this series considers both the long-term goal of improving students' reading skills for life and the practical need to prepare them for the middle school entrance exam. The compilers meticulously track the trends and changes of the exam, gaining insight into the stable yet evolving strategies and trends in question-setting. They not only master the essence of recent years' modern Chinese middle school entrance exams but also strive for innovation on the existing foundation. The texts in the junior high school volumes are divided into five thematic sections: "Multicolored Life," "Heartbeat," "Ripples of Life," "Random Thoughts on Life," and "Foreign Scenery." Each text is followed by two sections: "Guidance and Appreciation" and "Exploration and Self-Assessment." "Guidance and Appreciation" provides a concise analysis of the specific text, helping students overcome obstacles to appreciation and offering important insights into reading methods. "Exploration and Self-Assessment" simulates middle school exam questions with a set of thought-provoking problems, providing students with a stepping stone for in-depth appreciation and practical training for high scores on the exam.
