Some say that the Judicial Examination, known as the "China Test," is a "touchstone" that tests a candidate's willpower: Can you persist in studying for more than 8 hours a day for 3 months within a single examination period? Can you remain steadfast through the trials of repeated failures and persistent efforts, enduring 7 rounds without retreating? Others say that the Judicial Examination judges success or failure, with "passing" and "failing" being as different as heaven and earth, ice and fire. Beyond this, for most candidates, the examination seems to hold no other meaning. However, as a phase in life, the Judicial Examination offers other vistas: You find joy in self-transcendence; You receive love and support from friends or strangers, appreciating the beauty and goodness of humanity; You discover reasons for failure, perhaps opening up a new path; You learn to let go and make choices; You learn gratitude and recognize yourself correctly; You learn to remain calm, no longer blaming fate. This is the other landscape of the Judicial Examination.
Every year at a critical moment, thousands of Judicial Examination books are released, creating a spectacular scene. Publishers are eager not to be left behind, with "Red Books," "Blue Books," and "White Books" of various colors, shapes, and sizes filling bookstore shelves and dominating candidates' minds. The number of book versions continues to grow, and candidates, through months of daily study, "become tempered steel" and harden their hearts. The Judicial Examination gradually becomes synonymous with difficulty and monotony, with its other side completely obscured. We do not intend to mock or sentimentalize, creating a "soft" moment of romance; nor do we have the ability to convey profound truths through subtle observations to explain life's great principles. We simply wish to use this space as a small garden for candidates—over 300,000 each year—to share worries and solutions, exchange experiences, express their hearts, and showcase their talents.
From its name, you can see that it is merely a "flavoring." Yet this flavoring is neither sweet nor bitter, neither sour nor spicy. It does not deliberately offer sweet comfort in opposition; nor does it, like the folk song "Little White Cabbage," repeatedly lament in sorrow. It does not provoke you, nor does it make you feel inferior or frustrated when reading the experiences of top Judicial Examination candidates. It does not leave those who "fail repeatedly" to grieve in despair and helplessness. It provides experienced insights without preaching; it imparts techniques without showing off; it discusses emotions and feelings without being overly sentimental. It is both strong and gentle; it pursues success without ignoring the rich colors of life. Perhaps these are merely our aspirations, but isn’t there a saying that "no pain, no gain"?
Dear readers, you have chosen this garden with us. Let us together nurture and cultivate it. Today, we plant the seeds, waiting for the day when flowers bloom in abundance, truly becoming a beautiful and engaging garden for you to browse information and exchange thoughts during your study breaks. At that time, we can proudly say, this is what we set out to do.
One final note for the readers: The planning of this unconventional book was primarily an experiment for us. From the selection of the topic to the final editing, time was limited. Therefore, there may be shortcomings in content and structure, and we hope for your understanding. We believe that if there is a next year, we will certainly offer readers even more satisfying works!
We extend our gratitude to Law Specialty Online for their support, to our art editor, Mr. Jiang Xu, for his work, and to all friends who support this book.
