Features: In December 2002, the author participated in the International Conference on Criminal Correction and Rehabilitation in the 21st Century in Hong Kong and delivered a keynote speech titled "Social Protection of Released Prisoners." At this conference, the author was deeply inspired and moved by the presentations of experts, scholars, and correctional workers from both domestic and international backgrounds, which sparked the idea of sharing their insights and experiences from 40 years of engaging in practical work, teaching, and research in criminal correction and rehabilitation after graduating from university. The author then proposed the book title "Criminal Correction and Rehabilitation" and applied for it to the college. The project was approved and listed as a key research project of the Central Judicial Police College from 2003 to 2004, with financial support provided. This book is guided by Marxism, Mao Zedong Thought, Deng Xiaoping Theory, and the Important Thought of the Three Represents. It conducts a comprehensive analysis and research on the fundamental principles, operational mechanisms, systems of methods, correctional institutions and personnel, and the protection of released prisoners, comparing theory and practice, history and reality, China and the outside world, to draw scientific conclusions about criminal rehabilitation.
