Features: Dafu was a great patriot, and patriotism was the spiritual pillar of his life. He was known for his lack of petty concerns; however, when it came to major principles, he was unwavering and would not yield to death. In the 1920s and 1930s, he was closely associated with Zhou Zuoren, and Zhang Zhiping was also a co-founder of the Creation Society with him. But when he learned that Zhou and Zhang had surrendered to the enemy, his attitude was resolute and unyielding. He was upright, innocent, yet stubborn and willful, unsophisticated and ignorant of power politics. He had a deep, passionate love for his beloved country, his close friends, and especially his homeland. Passionate love is the highest form of love, and the word "passionate" carries no negative connotation. The line "A peerless figure, a peerless passion" is perfectly fitting for Dafu. Dafu has been gone from us for forty years. The previous year, I revisited Fuyang, and the Twin Martyrs Pavilion was still under construction. Now, as his beloved homeland begins to soar, dozens of scholars from home and abroad will gather by the Ziling Terrace on the Fuchun River to conduct a comprehensive and objective study of his tragic life and his contributions to Chinese literature. If Dafu could know, he would surely smile with satisfaction.
