Features: Based on the original standard, this revised standard incorporates technological advancements and developments in hydroelectric turbine units, as well as experiences from large and medium-sized hydro-turbine generator tenders, design, manufacturing, installation, and operation over the past 20 years. It addresses issues identified in the implementation of the original standard by making the following modifications:

- Major adjustments were made to the overall structure and article arrangement;
- Additional articles were added for environmental conditions, overall structure, direct cooling of the stator, elastomeric metal-plastic thrust pads, braking systems, fire protection systems, cooling systems, detection systems, and other auxiliary equipment, as well as trial operation and warranty periods;
- Adjustments or improvements were made to the allowable maximum temperature of thrust bearing pads, the tangent increment of the winding dielectric loss angle, the allowable runaway time of the rotor, the roundness of the stator and rotor, the differential gap value between the stator and rotor, and the allowable double-amplitude vibration values and limits for bearing-mounted frames;
- Modifications were made to articles concerning the maximum capacity, direct cooling inlet temperature, materials of the rotating parts, the maximum allowable stress, the allowable temperature rise limits of windings and stator cores, the temperature rise limit correction at high altitudes, the overall corona voltage, noise limits, mirror plate hardness and accuracy, etc.
Appendix B and Appendix C of this standard are normative appendices, while Appendix A and Appendix D are informative appendices.
