Caring about contemporary cultural life, respecting diverse cultures, and absorbing the nourishment of outstanding human culture." Through the process of recognizing and experiencing Chinese culture, students can feel the depth and richness of Chinese culture, establish national self-esteem, and develop a sense of national pride, gaining creative wisdom from the national culture. Reading classic masterpieces and reciting outstanding ancient Chinese poetry and prose is one of the important ways to implement and fulfill the curriculum objectives. In the "Recommendations on Extracurricular Reading" of the new language curriculum standards, there has been an addition of recommended ancient poetry and prose. Seeing the scattered pearls and fragments of ancient poetry and prose, every person whose body and mind have been nurtured by these excellent poems deeply knows that behind these ancient texts lies the profound and enduring five-thousand-year Chinese civilization, revealing the splendid essence of our national culture. Despite the passage of over a thousand years, the magnificent national culture still shines brightly and remains glorious. To help students better understand and master the requirements of the curriculum standards and the "Examination Specifications" for ancient Chinese poetry and prose, Peking University's Yan Yuan has carefully designed and launched the new curriculum standard reading series, including "70 Poems Every Primary School Student Must Recite," "50 Ancient Chinese Poems and Prose Every Junior High School Student Must Recite," and "40 Ancient Chinese Poems and Prose Every High School Student Must Recite." In the compilation, we have carefully considered and meticulously selected original versions of various influential ancient Chinese poems and prose from across the country, carefully comparing and selecting a large number of excellent works to delight the readers. In terms of content design, we have conscientiously followed the principles, fully considering the psychological needs and cognitive characteristics of students at different ages, and focused on making it convenient for students to memorize and understand. We emphasize the guidance of renowned teachers and the appreciation of poetry and prose, with annotations that are simple, popular, yet rich in cultural and historical knowledge. In the primary school stage, we have designed some lively and engaging questions to make it enjoyable and easy for children to recite, while also inspiring them to think independently. The light and lively layout makes students feel close and happy, and the lively comments make it easier for students to understand and maintain a keen interest. On this basis, this book has also added content to expand thinking, targeting key points, simplifying complexity, and guiding students to deeper understanding and reflection.
