Features: Preface The determination of construction cost is a fundamental task in China's socialist modernization, playing a crucial role in regulating the construction market, improving investment efficiency, and gradually aligning with international standards. It is highly technical, economic, and policy-oriented. Installation cost is a significant component of overall construction cost, involving multidisciplinary knowledge such as water supply and drainage, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and electrical engineering; it also requires the application of construction techniques and project management. Currently, there are two methods for determining construction cost: the traditional quota pricing method and the bill of quantities pricing method. These methods differ yet are interconnected. This book provides a detailed introduction to the principles and application of both the installation cost quota pricing method and the bill of quantities pricing method, along with cost calculation examples for building electrical engineering, water supply and drainage engineering, and air conditioning engineering. To facilitate a comparison of the two pricing methods, each example is presented using both approaches. The authors of this book come from various departments, including teaching, design, and cost consulting, having accumulated considerable experience through long-term teaching, engineering practice, and management. They also have a comprehensive understanding of the development trends in the field. This book was compiled and edited by Ding Yunfei, who also formulated the outline for its writing. The specific writing responsibilities are as follows: Liu Huizhen and Zhou Zhixin wrote Sections 4.4, 5.4, and 6.4 of Chapters 4, 5, and 6 (with quantity calculations completed collaboratively by Ding Yunfei, Liu Huizhen, and Zhou Zhixin), and Chen Zhibing wrote Chapters 9 and 10. The remaining sections were written by Ding Yunfei. This book can serve as a textbook for undergraduate and graduate students in fields such as building environment and equipment engineering, construction cost and management, water supply and drainage engineering, electrical engineering and control, and fire protection engineering. It can also be used as a reference for cost review and approval personnel. The writing and publication of this book were greatly supported by Guangzhou University. Additionally, during the writing process, the authors referred to the works of many domestic scholars and colleagues, as well as the latest national standards. The authors express heartfelt gratitude to the authors of these references. Due to the authors' limited expertise, errors may inevitably exist in this book. We sincerely invite readers to point out any shortcomings so that we can collectively contribute to the advancement of China's construction cost management.
