Features: Allusions are stories or phrases from ancient books quoted in poetry and literature, or those with origins and backgrounds. These stories or phrases are part of traditional Chinese culture. Some of them inspire patriotism in upholding national unity and national dignity, while others reflect social responsibilities such as integrity in public service, promoting talented individuals, and respecting elders and education. To help readers understand ancient poetry and literature and further use allusions skillfully in their own writing, we have specially organized and compiled the Practical Dictionary of Allusions for general readers, including primary and secondary school teachers, college and university students, and others with intermediate cultural levels. This book differs from previous allusion dictionaries in two ways. , previous allusion dictionaries only selected examples from ancient poetry and literature, while this book extensively uses modern examples to help readers understand and master allusions. It not only quotes easily understandable sentences from vernacular novels since the Ming and Qing dynasties but also includes sentences from famous works since the May Fourth Movement. Some examples are even written by the author, making it easier for readers to grasp and imitate. Second, the book is written in a clear and simple structure, making it easy for readers to understand at a glance. Considering the readers' proficiency, the book avoids lengthy descriptions of the origins of allusions but provides detailed explanations of their meanings. This helps readers understand the sources of allusions, avoids the difficulty of reading classical texts, and greatly facilitates their reading.
