This book discusses not only how to compile urban design but also focuses on how urban design can serve as a basis for planning management, as well as how it can control various urban developments based on urban design. Through the analysis of institutional and technical factors, and based on research into the mechanisms of urban development, the legal basis for the implementation of urban design, and the institutional framework for its implementation, the book proposes that urban design should become a professional technology integrated into public policy. It should more pragmatically engage in the complex and dynamic process of urban development, moving towards operability. At the same time, the book does not demand the pursuit of a perfect urban spatial order but rather aims to overcome poor urban spatial development outcomes through urban design, as much as possible preserving the public value in urban space.
