This book argues that the Dongba culture of the Naxi people records the history of the development of humanity's childhood culture. Its theoretical purpose is to correct the habitual claim that Dongba culture is a "compendium of Naxi knowledge." The author also proposes the essential differences between Dongba culture and Dongba religious culture. She believes the former is the development of primal culture and the derivative of traditional culture, while the latter is the definition of primal culture that integrates diverse external cultures. Additionally, she clearly puts forward the new argument that Lijiang Baisha is a sacred site of Dongba religion.
After conducting in-depth research on Lijiang culture, Mu Lichun, in her book The History of Lijiang Ancient Town, first proposed the view that "Lijiang Ancient Town is a carrier of multicultural civilization." In her book The History of Lijiang Tea Horse Road, the author further suggested that "the Tea Horse Road is the ancient route pioneered by the Naxi people," further exploring and enriching the field of Naxi historical research.
