Jin Chongji and Chen Qun served as the chief editors, with Cao Yingwang as the deputy editor. The book was published to celebrate this milestone. From the collection of materials in 1996 to the completion of writing, it took nine years. "The Biography of Chen Yun" vividly and intricately narrates Comrade Chen Yun's magnificent life dedicated to achieving the liberation of the Chinese nation and its people, the independence, unification, and prosperity of China, the establishment of a socialist system in China, and the construction of socialism with Chinese characteristics. It comprehensively reflects his far-sighted wisdom and decisive leadership in revolutionary struggles, economic construction, and Party building, as well as his scientific attitude of adhering to truth and pragmatism, his emphasis on investigation and research, and his concern for the people. The book consists of 43 chapters and approximately 1.3 million words. The main basis for compiling the book is the manuscripts, telegrams, letters, and records of speeches and conversations of Comrade Chen Yun preserved by the Central Archives and the Documentation and Research Center of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China; Central Committee documents and records of relevant meetings; memoirs or interview records of comrades who had direct contact with Comrade Chen Yun; newspapers, magazines (including internal publications), and related materials and books, many of which contain literature and materials that have been publicly published for the first time. It is a relatively detailed and reliable historical account that comprehensively reflects Comrade Chen Yun's life, thoughts, and achievements. From 1905 to 1949, it is divided into 12 chapters. These 12 chapters reflect Comrade Chen Yun's outstanding work and significant contributions during the various periods of the New Democratic Revolution, especially in safeguarding the security of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, establishing Mao Zedong's leadership position in the Party, consolidating, developing, and expanding the Party organization, resolving the financial and economic difficulties of the Shaanxi-Gansu-Ningxia Border Region, establishing a solid Northeast base, and achieving the liberation of the entire Northeast.
