Features: Li Zongru was born in Tianjin in 1941, with ancestral roots in Wujin County, Jiangsu. In 1963, he graduated from the Oil Painting Department of the Fine Arts Program at Beijing Art College, earning a bachelor's degree. After graduation, he worked at Beijing Jingshan School, a teaching reform experimental base under the Central Propaganda Department, specializing in the reform of primary and secondary school art education. In 1974, he was transferred to Tianjin Art and Craft School as a foundational painting teacher, later becoming the Academic Director. In 1984, he was appointed as the Vice President of Tianjin Art and Craft Academy, overseeing teaching affairs and participating in the establishment of Tianjin Worker's Art and Craft College, playing a significant role in its development. In 1997, he was appointed as the Dean and Professor of the School of Art at Tianjin Normal University, continuing to contribute to the cause of art education.
Mr. Li Zongru is a renowned art educator who has dedicated 36 years to the education sector, leaving behind a legacy of talented students. However, amidst his busy teaching and administrative duties, he has never ceased to pursue art with unwavering dedication. He has also achieved remarkable accomplishments in painting.
Mr. Li specializes in oil painting, particularly excelling in watercolor and tempera. In his early years, he studied under esteemed masters such as Wei Tianlin, Li Ruinian, Wu Guanzhong, and Luo Erlun, benefiting greatly from their guidance. His painting style is characterized by bright colors, rigorous composition, proficient techniques, and vivid depictions. Blending the essence of both Eastern and Western painting, his works showcase the charm of Chinese folk culture and have received widespread acclaim from all sectors of society.
