Author Bio: Ye Zi, currently known as Ye Sanbao, was born in December 1948. His ancestral home is in Shaoxing, Zhejiang, and he resides in Hangzhou, Zhejiang. Born into a scholarly family, he was nurtured by the traditions of the old literati from an early age. He has a deep love for literature, history, aesthetics, and philosophy. In addition to his studies, he has devoted himself to the study of inscriptions, calligraphy, and painting. Currently, he is the chief editor of Fine Art News and oversees the editing of the "Appreciation and Collection" section. He is an influential historian and appraiser among the younger generation in China. In the past two decades, he has successively compiled and published over ten academic monographs, including "Connected to Mountains and Waters," "The Art of Huang Binhong's Landscape Painting," "Appraising Zhang Daqian," "Appraising Lu Yinshao," "A Complete Guide to the Knowledge of Calligraphy and Painting Appreciation and Collection," "General Theory of the Appraisal and Collection of Chinese Calligraphy and Painting," "Investment and Collection of Chinese Calligraphy and Painting," and "Appraisal of Modern Chinese Calligraphy and Painting." He has attended important international academic seminars on multiple occasions and presented papers. His new viewpoints, such as "The artistic spirit is the highest principle in the appraisal of Chinese painting" and "The history of Chinese painting development is divided into the 'Appraisal of Antiquities' and the 'Wild Studies' schools," have attracted widespread attention from both the academic and collecting communities.
