Features: The significance of the transformation and development of education for the strength of a nation and a people is self-evident. Since the 1980s, a wave of educational reforms swept across the world. In China, the history of educational reform, dating back to the restoration of the college entrance examination system in 1977, has accumulated nearly 30 years of experience, forming a relatively complete educational system for the new socialist era. A key feature of China's educational reform during this period, distinguishing it from reforms in other countries, is that it has been accompanied by rapid internal changes and social transformation within Chinese society. The triple of socialist market economy construction, modernization, and social system reform has profoundly influenced the resources and opportunities within the education system, as well as the distribution of these resources and opportunities. In this context, studying the relationship between educational development and China's social stratification structure, and exploring the educational issues during this major social transformation, holds significant theoretical and practical importance for the modern education system of a socialist country that is gradually being improved and developed. Chapter 9 of this book, "Institutions, Culture, and Academic Advancement," provides an institutionalist analysis of the causes and mechanisms of "academic advancement" behavior, which is closely related to educational equality, and further examines and demonstrates it through case studies. Chapter 10, "Private Education and Educational Equity," is a newly initiated research topic by the author, where many issues will be further explored and analyzed in depth.
