Features: From The Annual Anthology of Middle School Student Essays to the current China Student Outstanding Essays Annual Selection, our editorial philosophy has become increasingly mature, with deeper and broader perspectives. We closely monitor the reforms in current Chinese language teaching and composition teaching. It is encouraging to note that in recent years, students' essays have undergone significant changes in both content and form. They freely express their thoughts and reflections, and essays have indeed become the most direct and convenient way for them to voice their inner feelings. Whether this is due to our advocacy or the of the outstanding essays we have promoted, it is worth reflecting on. Providing comments on students' essays is a distinctive feature of this series. Using the commenting method, we affirm and praise the dynamic thoughts and phrases in their essays, which can enhance their interest in writing. Meanwhile, pointing out issues such as spelling mistakes, grammatical errors, and biased perspectives in their essays is crucial for improving their writing skills and offers direct guidance. For the brief comments after each essay, we require teachers to provide fair and appropriate evaluations of the strengths and weaknesses of the essay, being objective—what is right is right, and what is wrong is wrong—without exaggeration or excessive praise.
