Features: The painter, drawing upon the spiritual essence of heaven and earth, fuses it with the wondrous imagination of the human heart. Standing between heaven and earth, surrounded by all phenomena, the artist blends thought with delight, suddenly sketches with a stroke, and follows directly with the brush to capture what they see, hear, and feel. With a resounding cry, they create works of extraordinary brilliance. Our country's painting has deep roots, dating back to Gu Kaizhi in the Jin Dynasty. For over a thousand years, countless schools have emerged, with outstanding masters in each generation. From the north to the south, talented artisans have emerged, each with distinct styles, forming their own unique traditions. The vast Yangtze River and the majestic Kunlun Mountains are not enough to describe their lofty heights. Later generations, wishing to learn more and appreciate their wonders, find it difficult. I was born too late to be a painter, but by observing the works of masters from ancient times to the present, along with the inevitable changes of each era, I have come to understand that learning the rules leads to understanding the lack of rules. The ancients said that this art is full of passion—was it so? Reading through the masterpieces of past generations, I realize that their methods are like mirages and flowing water—apparent yet elusive; while their lack of rules is like the boundless blue sky and clear water, vast and endless. Our society gathers the works of ancient and modern masters, selecting the finest from each era, detailing their lives, artistic theories, technical features, and lineage. This allows readers to see a glimpse of the whole through a part, understand an era's painting through a single artist, and through the works of dozens of painters, grasp the of our country's thousands of years of painting civilization. Due to the passage of time and frequent wars, countless masterpieces have been lost or damaged. Some famous painters left no works, some works survive but are scarce, and some painters were renowned, yet little is known about their lives. As a result, few images and texts remain, making comprehensive introductions impossible. Thus, we have compiled this collection of several individuals, better than having nothing at all. In the past, Ouyang Xun compiled Yiwen Lüji and said, "I wish to make every family rich in rare pearls and every person treasure jade, so that the elders can compile their works, each expressing their own views." This collection embodies that spirit. This book compiles over 120 representative works of Wang Yiting, providing detailed introductions to his life and artistic practice. It also includes a chronology of his life and reviews of his paintings by various scholars, aiming to offer a precise positioning of Wang Yiting in modern art history and provide substantial materials.
