Features: Preface to the Publication With the rapid development of China's economy, there is an urgent need for management talent at all levels, which also drives management education to adapt to this demand. While cultivating high-level management professionals, it is equally important to focus on practical departments and train middle and lower-level management personnel at the operational level. If, in the early stages of reform, we primarily needed to popularize management concepts and basic principles, today's management education, especially for undergraduate or vocational education and short-term training, should emphasize management details, management techniques in the process, and operational-level training. For many years, China Renmin University Press has been dedicated to the development of imported economic management textbooks, introducing classic works by authoritative authors. A number of these imported textbooks have been widely adopted by higher education institutions and received positive reviews. However, due to the unique systems and teaching models of Western economic management textbooks, these materials are generally over 500,000 to even 800,000 words long, making them more suitable for senior undergraduate and graduate, as well as MBA programs. For undergraduate and lower-level teaching, they appear too lengthy, posing difficulties for students in terms of affordability.
To meet the needs of undergraduate students learning authentic foreign management theories and to offer emerging, domestically less mature professional courses, we have, over the years, selected and translated concise textbooks from abroad that are suitable for undergraduate and lower-level teaching. These textbooks generally do not exceed 400,000 words and are priced affordably. In terms of content, these textbooks place greater emphasis on the introduction of management details and operational aspects, catering to the training of undergraduate and vocational students, as well as short-term training for specialized talents in enterprises. Additionally, the writing style of these textbooks is more reader-friendly, typically beginning with case studies, introducing key learning points for each chapter, and providing post-chapter exercises for teaching purposes.
Moreover, this series of textbooks is also highly suitable for busy corporate managers due to its concise structure and strong practicality. The selection of these textbooks has been supported by many domestic university teachers, for which we express our sincere gratitude. We also hope to build a platform where more experts, teachers, and corporate trainers can continuously propose needs and recommend excellent materials. We will, as always, provide dedicated service to contribute to the advancement of management education.
