Features: Physiological optics is an important branch of visual science, primarily studying the reception, imaging, conversion, transmission, processing, and perception of light information by the visual system, as well as the various visual functions that have developed on this basis. In 1980, Professor Xie Lanchang and others from the Department of Optical Instrument Engineering at Zhejiang University (now the Department of Photoelectric Information Engineering) pioneered the establishment of the "Physiological Optics" course at ZJU. Over the past 20-plus years, a significant number of students have enthusiastically enrolled in this course, achieving remarkable teaching outcomes. During this period, research on physiological optics and visual functions both domestically and internationally has continuously advanced, yielding substantial research results, and the content of the discipline has also been updated and enriched. To meet the new demands of teaching, research, and knowledge popularization, we have compiled the book "Vision and Its Application Technology." This book retains the main content of existing works on physiological optics and other visual sciences while incorporating a wealth of new visual research findings, greatly expanding the scope of teaching and research applications. Its distinctive feature lies in comprehensively elaborating on theoretical knowledge, advanced methods, and practical applications in various aspects, including the structure and basic functions of the visual system, higher visual functions, visual optical instruments and detection technologies, visual application technologies, and visual bionic technologies. This book is closely integrated with the information age, serving as a professional textbook that combines knowledge, technology, professionalism, and interest. The main content of this book is divided into four parts: Part chapters 1 to 4 introduce the introduction, visual optical systems and optics, basic visual neurophysiology, and basic visual functions; the second part, chapters 5 to 8, elaborates on higher visual functions, including shape and graphic vision and image recognition, spatial perception and stereoscopic vision, color vision, and motion vision; the third part, chapter 9, introduces visual optical instruments and detection technologies; the fourth part, chapters 10 and 11, discusses visual application technologies, primarily covering 3D and stereoscopic imaging technologies, visual bionic technologies and their applications, etc. This book comprehensively explains the structure and basic functions of the visual system, higher visual functions, visual optical instruments and detection technologies, visual application technologies, and visual bionic technologies.
