Features: This book focuses on the development and changes in China-ASEAN relations after the post-war period. Since the end of the Cold War, it has been 15 years, and China-ASEAN relations have undergone many transformations. Through the cultivation and promotion of both sides, the relationship has been continuously expanding in depth and breadth, with comprehensive cooperation in political, economic, cultural, and security fields. It is necessary to conduct a serious summary of the development and changes in China-ASEAN relations over the 15 years since the Cold War. In recent years, a large number of papers and monographs have been published by domestic and international academia on China-ASEAN relations, but it always feels like something is missing. There are many articles that discuss matters on the surface, but there are relatively few that conduct in-depth research and exploration. This book attempts to make some preliminary efforts in this regard, which can also be seen as paving the way for further contributions. The book is divided into two parts. The first part consists of six chapters, primarily exploring the changes and developments in China-ASEAN relations in recent years, as well as the reasons behind these changes. It analyzes how the economic and political relations between China and ASEAN interact and mutually influence each other. Through these analyses, the author attempts to draw the following conclusions: The foundation of the new China-ASEAN relationship is economic interdependence and cooperation. It is precisely this economic interdependence and cooperation that has promoted the improvement and development of bilateral political relations, leading to mutual interdependence in political and security areas. This, in turn, further promotes the refinement and deeper integration of bilateral economic relations. Both sides interact with and rely on each other.
