Features: A story of the life and death, joys and sorrows of people in a remote mountain village in Shandong, recorded by a "speaker" and woven together from fragments of daily life. They believe that life, death, joy, sorrow, and all emotions are forever in the hands of an invisible "man with a knife." The "man with a knife" sends the "man in the blue coat" to act in the human world and constantly issues warnings to the people with a "loud" voice. The novel breaks the traditional linear narrative structure, integrating countless "fragments" in a scattered yet coherent way, creating a unique narrative effect. The language is humorous and rustic, with characters full of individuality. The entire work carries strong symbolic meaning, and the ideas it conveys are even more worth pondering.
