Preface
To meet the needs of a wide range of readers learning and applying English, as well as the needs of foreigners learning Chinese, the Foreign Languages Press has launched this Chinese-English Mini Dictionary. This book contains over 17,000 Chinese vocabulary entries, including not only characters, words, and idioms but also some frequently used slang terms. It is annotated with six items: character, word, phrase, pronunciation, English explanation, and example sentences. It is arranged in alphabetical order based on the initial letters of the Pinyin, thus eliminating the need for traditional character component-based retrieval methods. The book is published in a compact 128-page format, featuring a small size, extensive vocabulary, and user-friendly design. Due to the limited expertise of the compilers and the urgency of time, errors are inevitable. We sincerely welcome readers to point out any mistakes.
