Features: From December 1949 to February 1950, the newly established People's Republic of China was still unstable, and the Guomindang under Chiang Kai-shek was preparing to launch a counterattack. Imperialism was also eyeing China with suspicion. The Central Committee of the Communist Party of China decided to send Mao Zedong to the Soviet Union to attend the celebration of Stalin's 70th birthday, while also exchanging views on issues of concern to both parties and countries, negotiating and signing treaties and agreements between the two countries, and resolving specific issues related to the interests of both countries. Upon learning of this intelligence through hidden radio stations, the Guomindang reactionaries in Taiwan formulated a "face-level assassination plan," sending killers on a long chase to attempt to an explosion on Mao Zedong's special train during its return journey. To ensure the safety of Mao Zedong's special train and the success of his visit, our public security organs and security departments immediately launched a tense investigation, ultimately successfully cracking the case before the special train's return, and timely thwarted the enemy's plot. When Mao Zedong first arrived in Moscow, he received high-level honors, met with Stalin and all members of the Politburo of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, attended the celebration of Stalin's 70th birthday, and had multiple cordial talks with Stalin. Due to Stalin's historical prejudices against China's revolutionary methods and his personal biases against Mao Zedong, which had not yet fully subsided, coupled with his willingness to listen to slanderous rumors, the Sino-Soviet negotiations temporarily reached a deadlock. Mao Zedong felt snubbed and greatly angered; Wang Jiaxiang cleverly devised a plan to reopen the situation; finally, Stalin relented and agreed to renegotiate the treaty and allow Zhou Enlai to continue negotiations in Moscow. Zhou Enlai fulfilled his mission with the courage, wisdom, and diplomatic skills of a statesman, successfully negotiating the Sino-Soviet Friendship and Alliance Treaty and related agreements with Stalin, achieving a great victory on the diplomatic front of the Republic. This book combines political significance, historical accuracy, artistic quality, and storytelling to recreate the demeanor of leaders of the Party and state such as Mao Zedong, Liu Shaoqi, Zhou Enlai, and Li Fuchun. The book is rich in historical materials, with vivid plots and suspense, making it both highly readable and of significant documentary value.
