Features: The modernization of Chinese language requires standardized characters. To implement national regulations on character forms, this table has been comprehensively revised based on the 1983 edition, with a new layout and enlarged font, providing readers with a reference for simplified characters, traditional characters, variant characters, and archaic characters. The table primarily includes the four batches of simplified characters announced by the State Council in 1956 in the "Scheme for the Simplification of Chinese Characters" and the "List for the Rectification of Archaic Characters" released by the Ministry of Culture of the People's Republic of China and the Chinese Commission on Chinese Characters Reform in 1955. Adjustments have been made according to the "Common Characters Table of Modern Chinese" issued by the State Language Commission and the Press and Publication Administration of the People's Republic of China in 1988. Simplified characters corresponding to variant characters in the table that do not fall within the four batches of simplified characters are omitted, and their traditional forms are not included.
