Features: The character Sanmao, created by Mr. Zhang Leping, was born in 1935. The earliest Sanmao comic works available were published in the supplement "Picture Morning Paper" of the Morning Paper on July 28, 1935. Sanmao's purely Chinese name, as well as the cartoonish child image that perfectly matches the name, immediately captured the widespread attention of readers. After that, Zhang Leping became unstoppable, creating a large number of Sanmao comic works over the decades and publishing them in standalone volumes. Sanmao became a true comic star. The mischievous Sanmao of the 1930s, the soldier and wanderer Sanmao of the 1940s, and the Sanmao who later gained a new life—all these images deeply moved generations of Chinese people. The historical depth and cultural significance of Sanmao are unparalleled in the history of world comics. In 1999, during the 50th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, Sanmao's Adventures was ranked 19th in the "50 Books That Moved the Republic" list. 2005 marked the 70th anniversary of Sanmao's birth. To celebrate this occasion, we have planned the publication of this Sanmao Complete Works Mini-Series. The series collects all of Mr. Zhang Leping's Sanmao comic works, presenting the most comprehensive and brand-new version available in China. Sanmao's Adventures was serialized in the Dagongbao from June 15, 1947, to December 30, 1948, with the final two strips published on January 7 and April 4, 1949. This book is organized into three volumes based on the content originally published in the Dagongbao, supplemented with six original drafts that were not included at the time. Additionally, we have paired the original illustrations with concise text to enhance readability.
