Features: Around the mid-19th century, modern free air was becoming increasingly prominent. The hedonistic lifestyle of the bourgeoisie had a significant impact on social life, leading to a gradual decline in traditional moral values. Neo-Romanticism art, to a large extent, served as a correction to this social phenomenon, carrying a certain artistic didactic tone. It developed more fully in the UK, Germany, and Nordic countries. Since Neo-Romanticism employed non-realistic themes to symbolize or metaphorically represent social realities, some of its works were close to Symbolism.
